Interview with Dr. David Robinson, author of “Transforming Body, Mind, and Spirit”

For decades, Americans have been apathetic about their unhealthy lifestyles. The result: dramatically worsened levels of health and the number of cases of chronic disease exploding. Merit-Rated health insurance premiums and Lifestyle Contributed Surcharges on health care may be the next wave of changes implemented. Don’t get entrapped by this “new order” of health insurance. Learn how to make lifestyle changes that last a lifetime, to make a total transformation and achieve great energy, great health and great looks. Transforming Body, Mind and Spirit is your A to Z, all-in-one concise guide to a balanced and healthy life and will teach you that you can live fit, trim and healthy for the rest of your life! Chiropractor and Personal Trainer turned Writer, Speaker and Consultant for Healthy Living and Wellness, Dave’s “work” is his life passion. Throughout his time in private practice, he counseled many clients on the various aspects of healthy living. In addition to writing this book, Dr. Robinson has written numerous articles on maintaining a healthy lifestyle that have appeared on several Web sites. His Web site is www.DrDavidRobinson4Health.com.

Could you please tell us a little about your book?
The first part delves into health care and insurance reform. Part II is the focus, where simple, common sense methods for attaining proper body composition – I don’t like the term “weight loss” as it is to me, an incomplete and incorrect approach – and transitioning into a healthy lifestyle/healthy living is explained. I also include a self-evaluation for health and lifestyle.

Did something specific happen to prompt you to write this book?
I came across some very dismal health and lifestyle statistics from sources like the CDC, U.S. Surgeon General, and RAND Center.

Who or what is the inspiration behind this book?
The plethora of 250+ page long involved books on diets, exercise, healthy cooking as well as the many diet and meal programs and diet potions being marketed over the years as “secrets” and “”magic” and the next best thing to “quick weight loss” and KNOWING these were marketing gimics.

What cause are you most passionate about and why?
Making people aware of the simple, common sense methods for living a healthy lifestyle which will lead to proper body composition and being healthier long term, as well as enlightening people about changing lifestyle priorities (i.e., entertainment venues like dining out, sports events, TV, etc. vs. outdoor activities, fitness activities/centers, meditation)

Who has influenced you throughout your career as a writer?
Dr. Wayne Dyer, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Jack LaLane, Mike Dooley.

What is the most important thing in your life right now?
Increasing awareness about, promoting and getting the spotlight on my book, i..e., increasing sales.

What are you currently working on?
Just finished a book of positive/spiritual affirmations and have begun to write a children’s short story book.

What do you feel sets this book apart from others in the same genre?
With the time compressed and busy schedules most folks have today, I deliberately wrote the book to be nuts-n-bolts, under 100 pages so it would be a quick read. It is NOT about dieting or “weight loss”, denounces diets and weight loss plans and pills as unnecessary. It advocates a healthy lifestyle as one which includes body, mind and spirit habits and focuses on simple, common sense, healthy nutrition, supplementation, exercise/fitness. Unlike other books, it includes sleep, recreation, meditation, slowing down daily schedules, utilizing preventive practices (D.C., L.M.T., Lic. Acc., etc.), a self-evaluation of health and lifestyle, as well as tailoring health coverage, all as part of a healthy lifestyle
