It isn’t very often that I get some “me” time, but yesterday morning I went to a local coffee shop to meet a friend of mine. The name of the shop is Apsen Coffee and Tea. I knew that I would have some time before she showed up so I brought my current read (which is “Outlander” by Diana Gabaldon) and was content to sit and drink some coffee, eat a pumpkin muffin, and wait until she showed up.
The coffee is absolutely delicious there, but as I was sitting at my table I glanced at an advertisement for something called a Pixie Mate Latte. I do have to watch my caffeine intake or I don’t feel well, but this piqued my interest and I just had to try one. What was it that made me so intent on trying this new drink you might ask? Well, it has 9 times the antioxidants in it as green tea! So, up to the counter I went. The girl working is fantastic and actually gave me a medium for the price of a small – another benefit of a small local coffee shop. And, I was certainly not disappointed. It was very similar to chai tea but had a smokier background, truly delicious! I would love to be able to afford to buy one every day, but that won’t be happening. Once a week though, I plan on taking my netbook, going there in the morning while my youngest is in 4K, and working while I sip this delightful drink.
Unless you live in Wisconsin you won’t be able to visit Aspen Coffee and Tea (I believe they are only in Wisconsin). But, if you see a Pixie Mate Latte advertised in one of the coffee shops you frequent, don’t be afraid to give it a try, especially if you like chai tea!
