Five Reasons I Love Reviewers by Jaime McDougall

1. Reviewers give of their time and energy to write about the books they love. Not only that, they often share these reviews on sites beyond their own blogs. All this for a copy of the book or sometimes for nothing at all.

2. Reviewers are the lifeblood of true publicity. I’m sure you can do a lot with ads and other things, but reviewers will give you that ‘not for sale but oh, so valuable’ word of mouth publicity.

3. Reviewers provide valuable feedback. A review of my first ebook, So You Want to Write a Guest Post, prompted me to revise the ebook. Not only do I now have a better product for readers, I used that feedback to make So You Want an Online Tour an ebook I’m incredibly proud of.

4. Reviewers let me know I’m being read! This one may seem obvious, but it’s a little more than that. It’s one thing to sell books, but to inspire someone – one way or another – to write their thoughts about my book makes me feel great.

5. Reviewers are loyal. When a reviewer finds an author s/he loves, s/he will stick with the author. Reader and reviewer loyalty are what authors like me dream of.
