She was his for one week only…
When a beautiful stranger ducks into his bookshop during a rainstorm, Cale Cameron, well-known rake, is instantly attracted to her. Elizabeth, Lady Thornhill, is restless and hungers for something she cannot name. Society would never accept a countess and a mere bookseller, so they agree to a one week affair to indulge their desire.
As their passion ignites and their connection grows, Elizabeth threatens the one thing Cale has protected above all else – his heart. Letting her go is the only solution… and the one thing he is not prepared to do.

Do you have any rituals you follow when finishing a piece of work?

I tend to finish it and then push it from my mind for at least a couple of weeks, if not longer, so I can come back to it and revise with unbiased eyes (or at least somewhat unbiased eyes; I don’t think it’s possible to view something you wrote yourself completely objectively).

In the meantime, I’ll start writing something else, work on submissions, or catch up with my reading.

What are you currently working on?

I’m working on revising The Wager, which is the second novella in the Sisters of Scandal series. It features Elizabeth’s sister Anne, and the Earl of Thornhill, both of whom are in The Affair. It’s been so much fun writing their story—I love the dynamic between the two of them.

Is there an author that inspired you to write?

As far as writing romance, Lisa Kleypas has been a big inspiration. I’ve read all of her books except a couple that were published really early in her career, and in my opinion, they’re all consistently good. The heroes are always totally swoon worthy, the dialogue is funny and lush and romantic—which has to be hard to keep up with as many books as she’s written. She has the magic touch. I’d be happy to bring at least some small part of that to my writing.

What are some of your long term goals?

Just to keep writing and keep getting published. It’s a dream come true to be able to call myself a published author and to be able to do what I love as a career. I do have fantasies of having a book in print someday instead of only being available digitally, but even if that never happens, I’m still grateful.

What is the most important lesson you have learned from life so far?

Don’t give up. If you want something, go after it—and maybe you’ll fail, but I think it’s better to fail than to wonder what might have been.

What is your favorite past-time?

This time of year, it’s definitely watching Game of Thrones on HBO. I’m addicted to that show! And when those ten short weeks are over, I suffer some serious withdrawal for the rest of the year.

ABOUT LILY MAXTON

Victorian Era England…

As far as rash decisions go, it was formidable. But Lady Jocelyn Rathbourne’s will remains strong. If the only way to save her family’s estate and reputation is by aiming a small pistol at the Duke of Calydon, then so be it. For Lady Jocelyn demands satisfaction—and she will have it at any cost. Even if it means demanding the hand of the intense and foreboding Duke himself..

But she’s made the first move against a very dangerous opponent…

For Sebastian Thornton is no stripling to be trifled with. The lady has played her hand. Now it’s his turn. For Sebastian is in need of a wife. And to find a wife with spirit and fire—even if she means to only marry for his money—would be a great prize indeed. And he intends to thoroughly take his pleasure with her… and demand his own satisfaction in return.

Did something specific happen to prompt you to write this book?

Thank you for having me! Yes! Entangled Publishing happened! They were my inspiration for The Duke’s Shotgun Wedding. The internet had exploded with Entangled awesomeness and I fell in love. So I decided I want to be an Entangled author and nothing would deter me. I submitted to them and I was rejected. I was crushed! Then my hubby said to me after seeing my devastation. “Find a way to entice Entangled!” Because I was stalking them, I saw a submission call for their Scandalous line and wrote The Duke’s Shotgun Wedding for the call. Every word I churned out was to woo Entangled. I studied their submission guidelines…smiled and said yeah….you’re going to want me, just you wait! LOL. Now we are in a pretty hot relationship.

Who is your biggest supporter?

OMG. My husband, Dusean. He is so incredible he scares me. I keep thinking… is he real? I knew he was always great…I mean we have been together since the 9th grade! But he has transcended great…a scary thing.  He encouraged me from day one, pushing me to never give up. He is my go to guy for plotting and characterization. He critique reads all my work! And I can tell you…no way would my books be as fabulous without his snarky comments when he critiques my work. I also have two noteworthy supporters I must mention…My amazing friend Diedre Mcleod who also reads and vets almost everything I do. And fellow Author Giselle Marks who is fantastic!

What are you currently working on?

I am currently working on book two and three in my historical series. In The Duke’s Shotgun wedding readers would have met the duke’s brother Anthony! Anthony is all that is charming and sensual. My awesome editor, Nina Bruhns, loves his story and I cannot wait for readers to be charmed by him. I think readers will be happy to know his story will be a full length novel!

I am also working on my paranormal fantasy series, getting it ready for submission! While I absolutely love writing historical romances…paranormal romance is what I live and breathe!

What do you feel sets this book apart from others in the same genre?

I think it would be how spunky my heroine is. I mean, books in the genre are marvelous, and I wanted a high concept that will make readers say, “ohhh this is fabulous, let’s see what else Stacy Reid brings to the table.”  I love kick ass heroines in their many forms, so I decided to write about a gusty, fiery heroine who is not afraid to pursue what she desires!  I think I succeeded from some of the reviews I have seen from my readers. A few have said …

The heroine was no weak mouse and for that I must absolutely applaud the writer, it is not always the easiest thing to make a heroine likeable and commanding at the same time”

“Lady Jocelyn is fiery and headstrong…just the way I like my heroines”

“I loved the character of the heroine; she is bold and unconventional relative to the women of her time.”

“Jocelyn was a totally relatable character. I love reading about strong female roles especially with a dominant male and it was interesting to see how Jocelyn tamed the totally rough around the edges ,sexy ,head strong Sebastian.”

“Jocelyn is a lovely heroine. Spunky, passionate & full of life.”

“I love when the women are fiery and rebellious and the men are dauntingly distrusting and hot blooded. Yikes! I did fan myself a few times.”

How can I not be contented with life?

What is the most important lesson you have learned from life so far?

I have learnt that doubt will kill my dreams and hope, and I must always kick it in the butt when it rears its ugly head. I had wanted to take the plunge into writing for a long time. But I had doubted my capabilities and spent five years studying for a degree in human resource management. While I loved the experience and learnt a lot, it was doubt that pushed me there. It was doubt that made me hesitate in putting my work in front of editors and readers, wondering if I am good enough. I read a quote that said “doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.” Doubt is a green monster (one with sharp brutal horns)…and it is ugly. I have evolved so much I even wowed myself. I morphed into a totally kiss ass ninja and doubt was the first thing I defeated…well it is more an ongoing battle, but all ninjas have an arch nemesis they battle with for years!

What is your favorite past-time?

Outside of hanging with the love of my life, reading for sure! For me it is like I am a reader first and then a writer! But they do go hand in hand don’t they? I completely believe the maxim which says to write well one must read. So without a doubt reading is my absolutely fave…even though my obsession with Rick Grimes from AMC The Walking Dead is creeping close.

Is there anything else you would like to share with us?

When you asked this question I had to force myself not to talk about my love of The Walking Dead and the perfection of the character Rick Grimes…Thank you for having me! And thank you readers for enjoying my work and I hope you keep following me on my journey as an author! And remember, a review for an author is like a pot of gold to a leprechaun. Thank you.

ABOUT STACY REID

I am an avid reader of novels with a deep passion for writing. I especially love romance and adore writing about people falling in love. I live a lot in the worlds I create and I actively speak to my characters (out loud). I have a warrior way “never give up on my dream.” When I am not writing, I spend a copious amount of time drooling over Rick Grimes from Walking Dead, watching Japanese anime and playing video games with my love– Dusean Nelson.
